i 9 corridori della Lampre-ISD per la Corsa Rosa

E' pronta la formazione della Lampre-ISD che prenderà
parte al Giro d'Italia 2012.
I nove corridori che vestiranno la maglia blu-fucsia
a partire dall'avvio danese della Corsa Rosa
(sabato 5 maggio) saranno: Matteo Bono, Damiano
Cunego, Adriano Malori, Przemyslaw Niemiec,
Daniele Pietropolli, Daniele Righi, Michele
Scarponi, Alessandro Spezialetti, Diego
Ulissi. Tra le riserve, sono stati selezionati
Simone Stortoni, Morris Possoni e Matthew
Lloyd.
Lo staff tecnico sarà composto da Roberto Damiani,
Orlando Maini e Maurizio Piovani.
"Il
Giro d'Italia sarà un passaggio cruciale della
stagione della squadra - ha
spiegato il general manager Saronni
- La Corsa Rosa è il grande obiettivo
di Michele Scarponi: la squadra l'ha supportato
nella scelta di confrontarsi con il Giro e lo supporterà
col massimo impegno e la piena fiducia durante le tre
settimane per provare a lottare per la classifica generale.
Sarà
molto significativa anche la presenza di Cunego,
dato che Damiano rappresenterà certamente
un elemento di massima importanza per la corsa sul piano
tattico. Questo non preclude il fatto che Cunego
avrà la possibilità di avere libertà
di azione nelle opportune occasioni. Tutti gli altri
corridori della squadra sono stati selezionati per le
garanzie di qualità e di solidità che
sapranno certamente offrire".

schede dei novi corridori della Lampre-ISD:

Matteo Bono: classe 1983, professionista dal 2006,
4 vittorie in carriera. Quarta partecipazione al Giro
d'Italia. Ciclista di generosità pari solo alla
sua capacità di analizzare con lucidità
tutte le situazioni di corsa.

Damiano Cunego: classe 1981, professionista dal
2002, 46 vittorie in carriera. Ottava partecipazione
al Giro d'Italia. Il vincitore dell'edizione 2004 della
Corsa Rosa (con un bottino di quattro tappe) si è
imposto quest'anno in una tappa del Giro del Trentino,
ottenendo anche il secondo posto nella classifica generale:
arriva al Giro in crescendo di forma.

Adriano Malori: classe 1988, professionista dal
2010, 2 vittorie in carriera. Esordiente al Giro d'Italia.
Il campione italiano a cronometro in carica sarà
la locomotiva del treno blu-fucsia nella cronosquadre
di Verona, oltre ad ambire al risultato personale nelle
altre due prove contro il tempo (Herning e Milano).

Przemyslaw Niemiec: classe 1980, professionista
dal 2002, 14 vittorie in carriera. Seconda esperienza
al Giro d'Italia. Scalatore dal gran passo, nel 2011
è stato uno dei migliori gregari da avere al
fianco in salita e ha lavorato in questa prima parte
della stagione per presentarsi ancora ai massimi livelli
di rendimento.

Daniele Pietropolli: classe 1980, professionsita
dal 2003, 9 vittorie in carriera. Quinta partecipazione
al Giro d'Italia. Tradizionalmente imprendibile nelle
gare di inizio stagione, nel 2012 si è presentato
in grande condizione nelle Classiche delle Ardenne.
Atleta adatto ai percorsi misti, può contare
anche sullo spunto veloce.

Daniele Righi: classe 1976, professionista dal
2000, due cronosquadre vinte in carriera. Quarta partecipazione
al Giro d'Italia. Rappresenta l'anima saggia e concreta
della formazione, un punto di riferimento per affrontare
con tranquillità le corse più difficili.

Michele Scarponi, classe 1979, professionista
dal 2002, 24 vittorie in carriera. Ottava partecipazione
al Giro d'Italia. E' il vincitore uscente della Corsa
Rosa e ha scelto di confrontarsi nuovamente con il Giro
d'Italia per provare a conquistare sulla strada il titolo
assegnatoli a tavolino per il 2011.

Alessandro Spezialetti, classe 1975, professionista
dal 1997, 1 vittoria in carriera. Quattordicesima presenza
al Giro d'Italia. L'esperienza dell'atleta abruzzese
è irrinunciabile per garantire alla squadra una
base solida e affidabile.

Diego Ulissi, classe 1989, professionista dal
2010, 6 vittoria in carriera. Seconda esperienza al
Giro d'Italia. Al debutto nella Corsa Rosa, ottenne
subito un successo di tappa. Atleta di classe poliedrica,
può rappresentare il valore aggiunto della squadra.
The
selection of cyclists that will wear Lampre-ISD’s
jersey is ready for Giro d’Italia 2012.
The
nine riders will be: Matteo Bono, Damiano Cunego,
Adriano Malori, Przemyslaw Niemiec, Daniele
Pietropolli, Daniele Righi, Michele Scarponi,
Alessandro Spezialetti, Diego Ulissi.
In the technical staff there will be Roberto Damiani,
Orlando Maini and Maurizio Piovani.

Pink Race is a top target for Michele Scarponi:

Matteo Bono: born in 1983, pro since 2006, 4
victories in career. Fourth participation in Giro d’Italia.
His generosity is huge as his skill in analyzing in
a clear way all the race situations.

Damiano Cunego: born in 1981, pro since 2002,
46 victories in career. Eight participation in Giro
d’Italia. The 2004 edition winner (in addition
to 4 stages), this year won one stage in Giro del Trentino,
obtaining also the second place in the overall standing:
he approaches Giro d’Italia relying upon an increasing
condition.

Adriano Malori: born in 1988, pro since 2010,
2 victories in career. Debut in Giro d’Italia.
The Italian time trial champion will be the point of
reference for the team time trial in Verona and he’ll
have the chance to make the assault to the time trials
of Herning and Milan.

Przemyslaw Niemiec: born in 1980, pro since 2002,
14 victories in career. Second participation in Giro
d’Italia. He’s a climber that can set an irresistible
pace and in 2011 he was one of the best domestiques
on climbs. He trained hard in the first part of the
year in order to be ready for the Giro.

Daniele Pietropolli: born in 1980, pro since
2003, 9 victories in career. Fifth participation in
Giro. Traditionally he’s very competitive in the
early part of the season, but in the 2012 he showed
an outstanding fit also in the Ardenne Classics. He’s
very competitive on mixed courses and he’s quite
fast in the sprints.

Daniele Righi, born in 1976, pro since 2000,
2 team time trials victories in career. Fourth Giro
d'Italia for him, who is the wiser cyclist of the team.
He's very useful in order to approach every difficulties.

Michele Scarponi, born in 1979, pro since 2002,
24 victories in career. Eight participation in Giro
d’Italia. He’s the defending winner of the
Pink Race and he chose to accept the challenge of trying
to conquer again Giro d’Italia after that he received
the 2011 title after an arbitration.

Alessandro Spezialetti, born in 1975, pro since
1997, 1 victory in career. Fourteenth cap in Giro d’Italia.
Lampre-ISD can’t renounce to the experience that
Spezialetti assures to the team, in order to have a
solid base for the Giro.

Diego Ulissi, born in 1989, pro since 2010, 6
victories in career. Second participation in Giro d’Italia.
As rookie in the Pink Race, he obtained immediately
a stage victory. Thanks to his versatile class, he’s
the sursplus value of the team.
Omega
Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team to Giro d'Italia

The Omega Pharma – Quick-Step Cycling Team
has officially announced the squad that will take part
in the next Giro d’Italia.
“It’s
a beautiful Giro,” explained Davide
Bramati, who will be following the team from the
team car with Rik Van Slycke. “During which
it will be important to measure our energy in a build
up to an extremely challenging final on major mountains.
We’ll be at the start with a young, motivated formation
that can stand out on any type of terrain. For the sprints
we can count on what Chicchi can bring. Francesco has
started the season well.
A
victory in the Giro could give him good confidence for
the rest of the season and reward him for the great
work he’s been doing up to now. In the stages ideal
for breaks, there will be plenty of room for athletes
like Bandiera, Golas, Maes and Martin Velits,
who will also have to stay close to the two athletes
that should give battle in the high mountain stages
and in the general classification, Cataldo and
Pauwels.
Dario and Serge are two outstanding athletes
who have already shined in the past on the road s of
the Giro. Pauwels was a brilliant player in the
race in 2009 and Cataldo stood out in the last
editions, even coming close to a stage victory.
The
squad is completed by two newcomers to the three week
races, Kwiatkowski and Vermote. Michal
will try to put his skills as a time trial man to good
use right away in the brief Prologue that will open
the race, while Julien will gain some important
experience in support of his teammates and a significant
investment for his future. Overall the team has all
its cards in order to go for a stage victory and a good
placing in the general classification.”

Il
direttore sportivo Luca Scinto ha scelto la sua
Farnese Vini Selle Italia per il 95° Giro
d'Italia. I nomi, i ruoli e gli obiettivi per l'appuntamento
clou della stagione.
Ieri
ha fatto sei ore di allenamento con i suoi ragazzi.
Oggi si prepara alle ultime due corse pre – giro.
Luca Scinto ha ufficializzato i nomi dei corridori
che parteciperanno al Giro d'Italia 2012. Lo
ha fatto prima del tempo (rispetto ai suoi timing strategici)
per tranquillizzare i selezionati e proeittarli sulla
“corsa più dura del mondo, nel paese più
bello del mondo”, come recita il claim del Giro,
dove la Farnese Vini Selle Italia andrà
per attaccare, attaccare e ancora attaccare.
La squadra selezionata dal Pitone si basa sui
tre leader del team, Filippo Pozzato (in Twitter,
@PippoPozzato) che cercherà una vittoria di tappa,
sognando la rosa nella prima parte della corsa, insieme
ad Oscar Gatto (@gatto_oscar), vincitore di Tropea
– l'unico ad aver battuto davvero Contador
al Giro 2011 – che punterà alla replica
di quanto fatto, forte di una campagna del nord vissuta
da protagonista. Insieme a loro, al debutto in una corsa
di questo livello, l'enfant prodige della velocità
Andrea Guardini (@AndreaGuardini), in questo
momento impegnato in Turchia per rodarsi.
Ai tre leader, è affiancata una coppia di esperienza:
Luca Mazzanti (@lucamazzanti74), il regista in corsa,
il braccio destro di Scinto nel gruppo, l'uomo
di Pozzato e degli altri capitani insieme a Francesco
Failli (@francescofailli), più giovane di
Mazzanti ma pur sempre con un ottimo bagaglio
di esperienza alle spalle, che spera di riscattare la
sfortuna nera del 2011 (cadde rovinosamente nella tappa
di Orvieto) giocandosi anche le proprie carte nelle
tappe vallonate per passisti – scalatori.
Capitani e uomini di esperienza quindi, per uno zoccolo
duro che farà da fondamenta per il futuro, affidato
a tre giovani promettenti, corridori da fughe con spunto
veloce, che la squadra ha voluto premiare con un'esperienza
universitaria: Elia Favilli e Matteo Rabottini,
entrambi già al via della corsa rosa nel 2011,
pronti a replicare fughe ed attacchi, con il piglio
di chi può rischiare di stare al vento chilometri
su chilometri, aspettando di vedere quel che succederà.
Insieme a Pierpaolo De Negri, lo spezzino che arriva
direttamente da Brugnato, uno dei paesi più
colpiti dall'alluvione dello scorso 25 ottobre che correrà
per se e per la sua gente, impegnata ancora nella ricostruzione.
“Ho voluto dare la squadra
prima del solito – spiega Luca Scinto
(@scintoluca) – perchè era giusto far
mentalizzare gli atleti, anche se normalmente preferisco
tenerli “alla corda” fino alla fine. La squadra
che ho messo in piedi è la migliore in assoluto
in questo momento. I tre leader, da cui mi aspetto tantissimo.
Pozzato deve vincere, Gatto pure, e Guardini
deve misurarsi con le volate che fanno entrare un corridore
nella storia. E poi ci sono i giovani, a cui regaliamo
un'esperienza importante.
Due
già c'erano l'anno scorso: Favilli, che
al nord ha stupito anche me per costanza e forza, insieme
a Rabottini, a cui abbiamo fatto fare un percorso
di avvicinamento più leggero e che sapevo già
di portare visto che nella terza settimana dell'anno
scorso aveva dimostrato di avere ancora forza e determinazione.
Infine De Negri, uno dei “miei”, cresciuto
con noi dai dilettanti che quest'anno meritava un posto
in squadra e che si è preparato bene per l'evento.
Sono sicuro che da questi tre ragazzi raccoglieremo
tanti chilometri in fuga, perchè attaccare sarà
la nostra regola. Infine, gli uomini che fanno da amalgama
e sono una garanzia: Mazzanti, il mio regista
e Failli, un atleta che stiamo valorizzando e
che sicuramente potrà far vedere belle cose nelle
tappe più difficili. Rimane aperta solo una posizione,
che definirò entro la fine della settimana visto
che Hulsmans, a cui avrei voluto dare un premio
per la splendida campagna al nord fatta, ha un problema
ad un ginocchio e non potrà essere al via purtroppo”.
GreenEDGE Names Giro d’Italia
Line-Up

has named its nine-man Giro d’Italia team.
The line-up has been built with a focus on stage wins,
specifically during the first two weeks of the three
week Grand Tour.
“The
first priority in selecting a Grand Tour roster is identifying
the goals of the team,” said Sports
Director Matt White. “From
there, you build a team that can meet those goals. The
second thing we take into consideration is the development
of the riders. The third part of our selection is choosing
riders who are preparing for goals later in the season
such as the Olympics and the Tour de France.
Our roster reflects a combination of these three elements.”
Although
GreenEDGE lacks a general classification rider,
White believes his sprint leader has the opportunity
to spend time in the maglia rosa.
“We’re
solely focused on stage wins,” said White. “We’ve
said that from the beginning. We definitely don’t
have anyone for the general classification. Most of
our riders will have a chance for individual stage wins,
and Matt Goss is our leader for the sprints.”
“I
expect the team to be competitive during the early stages,”
White continued. “We have a strong team for the
stage four team time trial in Verona. A dream scenario
would be to put Goss in the pink leader’s jersey
during the first week – either right before or
right after the team time trial. There are a few teams
with the same goal as us. If we’re on the mark
very early in Denmark, I’ll be happy.”
White
calls the time Goss spends at the Giro as an integral
piece of his Tour de France preparation.
“The
Giro is an important race for Matt Goss,” said
White. “He’s got good form at the Tour of
Turkey, and the idea is that he’ll hit the ground
running at the Giro. He’ll have a lot of chances
for stage wins. The time he does in Denmark and Italy
will set him up for the Tour de France, which is the
biggest goal for both him and the team.”
Brett
Lancaster, Tomas Vaitkus and Jens Keukeleire
will play key roles in the sprint train.
“Brett
and Matt are riding together for the first time at the
Tour of Turkey,” explained White. “We’ve
had a lot of different things happen with our sprint
train already this season. Julian Dean was our main
lead-out man for Goss, but he hasn’t raced much
after a broken shoulder in December, and a broken leg
in March has taken him out of racing. Brett has put
his hand up to fill Julian’s spot and he’s
the right guy for the job. The stress and competitiveness
of this race is huge and that’s where Brett comes
in.”
Vaitkus
will fill a similar role to Lancaster.
“We
expect Tomas to be part of the lead-out train in both
the Giro and the Tour,” said White. “Because
of how the season has panned out, he hasn’t had
the opportunity to race with Goss in the sprints other
than at Tirreno. We’re looking at seven chances
to refine the sprint at the Giro, so Tomas will be critical.”
White
has selected Keukeleire, a Grand Tour newcomer, to be
part of the sprint train as well as further his development
as a sprinter in his own right.
“Keukeleire
will learn a lot from the sprint stages in the first
two weeks,” noted White. “He’s a good
sprinter himself and to be part of a world class sprint
team will benefit him. The strength he gains from his
first Grand Tour will carry into the summer, and I expect
he’ll be a new man come late summer and autumn
this year.”
White
will look to Svein Tuft and Jack Bobridge to look after
Goss and set the pace in the team time trial while using
the Grand Tour as an important part of their preparation
for the London Olympics.
“Svein
has had solid form since February,” said White.
“He’s a rider I can count on to line up and
get the work done. The team time trial is a huge goal,
and Svein is critical in our success in this discipline.”
“The
Giro will be Jack’s first road race since Nationals,”
White continued. “He’ll start a little bit
behind as he finds his road legs after Track Worlds.
Luckily, Jack adapts quickly. He’s a hard guy and
he’ll be very useful in catching break-aways.”
Fumiyuki
Beppu, Christian Meier and Daryl Impey
round out the roster.
“I
have worked with Christian for a couple of years now,
and you know what you get with him,” said White.
“He’s a solid teammate that completely dedicates
himself to the team goals. He’s done the Vuleta
a España in the past, but this is his first Giro.
I’m sure he’ll have plenty of chances to show
us what he is made of.”
Unlike
Meier, Beppu is no stranger to the Giro. White will
look to the Japanese all-rounder to help Goss in the
sprints as he prepares for the London Olympics.
“Beppu
has specialized in the cobbled classics previously,
and this year, we’ve seen him at the more hilly
races like the Ardennes,” explained White. “He’ll
use the Giro as a platform to prepare for the Olympics
while he looks after Goss and takes his own chances.”
Daryl
Impey, the second Grand Tour newcomer in GreenEDGE’s
nine-man roster, earned a spot at the Giro due to his
‘standout performances’ this year.
“Daryl
has had a great season so far with his first WorldTour
win,” said White. “He’s been absolutely
super for the team in every race he has done this season.
I’m looking forward to giving him opportunities
at the Giro.”
GreenEDGE
eagerly anticipates the start of its first Grand Tour
in its maiden season.
“It’s
a big moment, I suppose,” said White. “Every
race this year has been a big moment because everything
we experience is our first. We’ve already ticked
a lot of boxes, and the Giro has always been on the
list. We really want to leave with a stage win. Aside
from the Tour de France, this is the biggest race of
the year. We have a very motivated group going into
the Tour of Italy next week.”
“It’s
an exciting time,” added General Manager Shayne
Bannan. “We’re all very excited and quite
nervous as well. Grand Tours are big races for everyone
involved. There’s a lot of work going on behind
the scenes to make sure that we’re ready for our
Grand Tour debut next week. I have great confidence
in our group and the previous months have shown that
we’re up for the task”

Team
Sky’s squad for the 95th edition of the Giro d’Italia
has been finalised and sees Mark Cavendish head up a
formidable nine-man line-up.
The
26-year-old World Road Race Champion is set to make
his fourth appearance in Italy’s biggest bike race
and looking to add to his tally of seven stage wins.
Joining
Cavendish are Bernhard Eisel, Juan Antonio
Flecha, Sergio Henao, Peter Kennaugh,
Ian Stannard, Ben Swift, Geraint Thomas
and Rigoberto Urán.
Eisel
(31) and Flecha (34) make the team on the back
of strong Classics campaigns which saw them take podium
places at E3 Harelbeke and Omloop Het Nieuwsblad respectively.
The duo have amassed 27 Grand Tours between them and
that experience will aid the team greatly in their drive
for success.
Kennaugh
(22) and Swift (24) are returning to the road
after their gold medal-winning performances at the World
Track Championships along with the ever-impressive
Thomas (25), who backed up his team pursuit win
in Melbourne with a victory for Team Sky in the opening
prologue at the Tour de Romandie. Stannard
(24) is the fifth British rider and will play a vital
team role, just as he did in the Classics.
Colombian
duo Henao (24) and Urán (25) round out the squad
and both will be aiming to impress in the mountains.
The
action gets under way in the Danish town of Herning
on Saturday 5 May and culminates in Milan on Sunday
27 May.
